OUR KEY ISSUES
ROADS
As we all know, our roads are in desperate need of repair. Reasonable funding sources must be found.
PROGRESS MADE
​
We have received funding from a TxCDBG grant to rebuild designated streets.
WATER
New water sources must be provided for the city without financially over-burdening citizens.
​
We have received a $2,000,000 EDA grant to rebuild water and sewer infrastructure.
Efforts to independently provide a water system contract is proceeding. The drilling of the test wells will begin soon!

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
The City is tasked with repairing the aging infrastructure in order to bring new businesses and jobs to the city.
​
State mandated funding for the widening of Highway 82.
​
A new, larger Dollar General Store is being built and planned to open in October of 2022!
​
Mayor Walker successfully negotiated a low interest loan (0% interest for the first three years) with the State infrastructure Bank to pay for the relocation of water and sewer lines needed for the widening of Highway 82.
BALANCED BUDGET
Proper financial management is necessary to face upcoming funding challenges.

No longer delinquent on $180,000 in bills, the city now operates with a positive fund balance..
​
The city budget deficits have been mitigated without raising taxes.
